What they say about us

‘My experience in the United States was unique and authentic. I spent a school year living with an American family that I consider my own family, my older sister had already been living with them for a year and we have a very close relationship with all of them. We lived in Pennsylvania and I attended high school with my American siblings. There I had the opportunity to study subjects that are not available in Spain, such as Film, and I learned a lot about film and photography. I was very good at English and I didn’t have any problems studying and my American ‘mother’ was always there to give me a hand! I joined the synchronised swimming team and took part in competitions and it was a great experience and I made a lot of friends (with whom I still have contact). In my opinion everyone should have a language and cultural immersion experience like this because it opens your mind, you learn a lot of new things and it’s an experience that marks you for life’.

‘Hi, I’m Ignacio and I’ll tell you about my experience in Boston.
I’ve been seeing everything, sightseeing and trying to see as many things as possible. So, very good. At the beginning, the first day, I didn’t really know why I had gone, but the next day I was delighted with the city, and then my stay was very short and I didn’t even want to go back!
About the English school and the course, very good. They were always very attentive to everything, and the course, to be honest, I was lucky, and the teacher I had was a young girl who made the classes very enjoyable …. which was something I wanted. I didn’t want pure grammar classes, but fun classes, talking, listening to music, videos…etc. I went every day from 8:20 to 11:30 in the morning, so it was very good, because then I had time all day to go sightseeing and see the city.

In general I had a very good time. Indeed, Boston is a city where you could live peacefully (I don’t know other cities in the USA) but it’s not like NY, it has residential areas and areas for going out, which make life very comfortable. I really wanted to stay longer (I even went to the Energy Department of MIT to see if there was any kind of job or to apply for something….jajaja) But seriously, I loved the city’.

‘Hello, my name is Cristina, and in September ‘12 I decided to embark on an adventure, to spend a year in the USA, specifically in SAN FRANCISCO. I have no other word to define the experience.

The city is quite European, as far as people and weather are concerned. In San Francisco you are guaranteed to have fun. It never ceases to surprise you, every day offers a variety of plans, and if not, you can always take the car and find spectacular beaches and parks just a few kilometres away.

To all this, we must add the main objective of the trip, the learning of English. The classes are daily, diverse, enjoyable, fun… you will learn English without even realising it. They also offer various activities in the afternoons, which you can join according to your interests.

In my case, I chose to do an internship in a company, there we go! I started in a school, where the task of communicating in English with the children was quite a challenge. After three months, my level of English allowed me to get a job in a company in the administration area. Perseverance and enthusiasm have helped me to progress within the company.

Obviously, I wouldn’t change this year for anything. It has been a great effort in every way, but the reward is so worth it’.

Teresa and Vicente are architects and architecture teachers and in the summer of 2023 they set off on an adventure in Chicago. They speak English very well but they wanted to perfect it and also experience American culture in one of the most emblematic cities in the United States for its architecture. They say that their experience exceeded their expectations and that they had a lot of fun as well as practising English and even volunteering!

‘Hello, my name is Esther and I am 23 years old. When I was about to finish my studies, I realised that I needed to catch up with my English. So I decided to contact MUMA and they offered me the opportunity to go to Vancouver, Canada for a month.
The experience has been fantastic, I think the best of my life, in every way.

The city is incredible, now I understand why it always occupies the first places in the ranking of the best cities in the world to live in. It has everything: beach, mountains, lakes, huge parks, skyscrapers, fashion, nightlife and the people are really welcoming. The mix of cultures that you find in the city means that you don’t feel like a foreigner and you learn things from many corners of the world.

The family where I was living was also fantastic. From the first moment they made me feel that this was my home and that they were my family. They integrated me into their plans but at the same time I had a lot of independence, and they were always looking out for me, which is also appreciated when you are alone in the other part of the world and in those first days when you are still not very settled.

Finally, I am very satisfied with the classes and the school. The school is in the centre of the city and it’s very familiar, the treatment is very close. The Cambridge books are followed. There is a follow-up from the teachers. The progress as the days go by is great and you really feel that you are making the most of your time and learning.

A unique experience that I recommend to everyone!’

‘Dream fulfilled, unrepeatable year, incredible experience, the best year of my life. My God I don’t want to go back! This is how I sum up my year in America, living here is amazing, I love America from the very first day, both my American family and my high school friends and colleagues welcomed me and I felt an important part of them. Experiences, anecdotes, experiences and special and unrepeatable moments that I will take with me inside me, making me a better version of myself. I will return! God save America.
